This leadership course is recommended for those in front-line supervisory or engagement positions such as forepersons, superintendents, project managers, and first aid attendants. However, the learning outcomes of the course apply to many roles. If you work in a construction leadership position or are on a leadership development path, this course is for you.
Walk away with the confidence to recognize, support, and refer to crew members in need and give them the tools to help the people in their lives!

What will you learn?
Course content includes:

● Stigma - Our Biggest Barrier
● Understanding Pain
● Substance Use Disorder
● Harm Reduction
● Mental Health & Trauma
● Indigenous Perspectives with a guest speaker
● Legal Obligations with a guest speaker
● Providing Support, Building a culture around Support & Self Care
The first 4 courses are 4 hours of online modules, in 4 different languages.
The in-person, instructor-led training portion is 8 hours in total, including breaks and lunch.
Access to information and any course materials will be provided to you via email in advance of the training.
Course Requirements (Technology & Participation)
To attend, you must make sure you have the following:
For the online portions:
- A computer, working headphones or speakers and writing material for notes.
For the in-person portion:
- Writing material for notes
- Laptop and equipment if you choose
- Self-care things; water bottle, little snacks, etc.
Order of Events:

Company signs up for Leadership Fundamentals making contact with their nearest coordinator

Coordinator makes contact with guest speakers and all parties set a date

Participants get access to online modules and complete before set date for in person training

In Person training will be over 8 hours, including breaks and lunch provided by the instructor

Completion of course, certificate sent, gold seal points earned

Feedback and surveys completion period
Recommended Prerequisites
We recommend that organizations that register staff for this training first schedule a Toolbox Talk for their team. Our Toolbox Talks are a helpful introductory conversation about the complex issues surrounding substance use within our industry. Not required but recommended.
